The AMIEU QWANT Branch is looking for an enthusiastic energetic person to join the team as an Organiser to service and grow its membership in Queensland.

The applicant must be extremely self-motivated and be able to work autonomously and as part of the team.

Hours in this role are not 9-5 and will require out-of-ordinary hours work including evenings and some weekends.

The role is based in South East Queensland and requires regular travel to metro and regional areas and the applicant must hold a current driver’s license. The role also includes some interstate travel.

To be a successful applicant you will have to possess the following attributes:
Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written communication. Candidates who can communicate across cultures and languages in addition to English are encouraged to apply. The meat industry is very multi-cultural and being able to communicate across different nationalities is important.
A sound working knowledge of the meat industry.
Able to interpret and apply Enterprise Agreement Clauses.
Able to identify and resolve issues / disputes.
Self-motivated and able to think and act independently while also working well within a team environment.
Have strong union values and strive for social justice.
Have sound computer literacy skills and be fluent in basic Microsoft programs.
Able to construct newsletters and journal articles.
The AMIEU is a small craft union but you will have the resources and support from a legally qualified Industrial Officer, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and office staff.
