KILCOY GLOBAL FOODS
ENTERPISE AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS
Dear Kilcoy members,
The AMIEU has been contacted by the company regarding negotiations for a new Enterprise Agreement, which will commence shortly.
The Kilcoy Pastoral Agreement 2022, your current four-year agreement, is set to expire on 7 February 2027.
The AMIEU will soon send all members a survey asking what you want to achieve from the negotiations. Your responses will help determine the priorities the union takes to the bargaining table. The union will be your voice at these negotiations.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the process, your Enterprise Agreement sets out your wages, conditions and other employment rights and obligations that apply to Kilcoy workers.
The company will be negotiating to achieve the best outcome for itself. It will be up to workers to stand together to make sure the new agreement delivers a fair outcome for you all.
The company may hope that workers are disinterested or do not get involved in the bargaining process. If that happens, it makes it easier for the company to push through a modest pay increase and lock in the agreement for another four years.
This is why your involvement matters. For the agreement to be approved, it must receive more than 50% of the valid votes cast by employees who vote.
That means workers have the power to decide whether the proposed agreement is accepted or not.
It does not matter whether you are a visa worker or not. If you are an employee covered by the agreement, you have the right to participate in the vote. Voting is conducted by secret ballot, so nobody knows how you voted.
Remember, you are the engine room of this company. Without the workers, Kilcoy Global Foods does not have a business. You are the people who produce the product and generate the profits that keep the company operating.
You deserve a fair pay rise and an agreement that properly recognises the work you do.
When you receive the AMIEU survey, please take the time to complete it and have your say. The stronger the participation from workers, the stronger your union’s position at the bargaining table.
